The beginning of the orphanage

Kakembo took over duties in Uganda caring for 33 orphans after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down churches and charities in 2021. The severe physical problems of his beloved guardian pastor, who took care of the kids, was another blow! Through an unexpected providential encounter between Kakembo and the author, an incredible God-adventure ensued. The “Beginnings” photos reflect the start of major medical problems for Kakembo, the celebration of successful kidney removal, the struggle to get water for the orphanage, the need to supply daily essentials, the Author’s virtual first Christmas with the kids, and a purchase of a garden plot. Beginning in January 2022, Kakembo experienced the disastrous surprise of an eviction. Through faith and hard work, Kakembo began building a new home and a new life for the kids.
